Preview: 2021/22 Regionalliga Salzburg
Round 9, FC Pinzgau Saalfelden vs. SV Austria Salzburg
Saturday 4TH September 2021, 18:00 CET, Saalfelden Arena
To cap off the first half of the season, FC Pinzgau Saalfelden will take on joint league-leaders SV Austria Salzburg in a cracking Saturday evening fixture. The Violets are coming off a victory against Wals-Grünau, whilst the Ziege Crew succumbed to a bitter last-minute defeat in Kuchl and dropped two places in the table. Now, FCPS look to get back to winning ways in the standout Regionalliga Salzburg match of the weekend. Christian Ziege’s side have enjoyed a 100% winning record at home this season – a record they share with TSV St. Johann – and look to keep it that way after Match Day 9.
PERSONNEL SITUATION
Christian Ziege still has to do without the long-term injured Denis Kahrimanovic (cruciate ligament). Semir Gvozdjar is on his way back and has already taken part in training again over the last week.
STATEMENT
Christian Ziege: “The upcoming match against Austria Salzburg is not only a duel against a really good team, but for many players it is always something special with a lot of spice on the pitch. But we know what we can do in our stadium – and that gives us a lot of momentum. At the end of the first half of the season, it’s an extremely important game for us. On the one hand, we want to close the gap to the top of the table, and on the other hand, we want to gain a lot of self-confidence for the second half of the season and create a good starting position.
