FC Pinzgau Saalfelden celebrated a spectacular 3:2 home victory against BSK 1933 in the first round of the ÖFB Cup on Saturday evening and advanced to the next round after a real show of strength. In the process, Hannes Schützinger’s team overcame a 0:2 deficit and was able to cheer about advancement in the end.
In the first half, apart from the first 15 minutes, the guests from the Pongau region had the action under control and took the lead through Bohdan Kuksenko (18th) and Said Daniel Llambay (28th). In the process, the Bischofshofeners took advantage of two carelessness ice-cold and already looked like the winner at the break. But in the second half, the home side turned the game around completely. Within just twelve minutes, the team of new coach Hannes Schützinger turned the game on its head. FCPS scored the 1:2 equalizer right after the kickoff with a beautiful header by Joao Pedro, before Semir Gvozdjar unstoppably put a free kick into the net for the equalizer (48th). Finally, Joao Pedro (57th) laced his brace and ensured the turnaround after an impressive recovery. In the end, Tandari & Co. celebrated a 3:2 home victory in the 1508 SaalfeldenArena and thus moved into the second round of the ÖFB Cup.
“The anticipation was very high with all of us and we got off to a very good start. Unfortunately, we fell behind due to two mistakes. Then not much fit in our game, we really struggled and stood deeper. We didn’t close the spaces anymore. The momentum shifted to our side when we scored the second goal. We were able to follow up right away and reward ourselves for our efforts. It was still hectic at the end, but we managed to hold on to the narrow lead. A successful start, which gives us a lot of self-confidence,” said Schützinger in a first reaction.
