Draw against league leaders

SV Seekirchen 1-1 (1-1) FC Pinzgau Saalfelden. Goals: Kauba (18); Streitwieser (45+1)

FC Pinzgau Saalfelden battled to a 1-1 draw away to league leaders Seekirchen on Friday evening.

Christian Ziege’s team were deprived of a handful of players at late notice against league leaders SV Seekirchen. Nonetheless, the visitors managed to compete with the high-tempo set by the Flachgau outfit from the start and created some dangerous moments themselves. Pinzgau had the first big chance when a long-range shot from Niklas Mühlbacher narrowly missed the top corner. The home side responded almost immediately and tested Kilian Schröcker, but the FCPS goalkeeper would not be caught out by a ball across the face of goal. But as the game approached the 18-minute mark, there was little he could do to stop Lukas Kauba from slotting home a pinpoint cross. Despite going behind, Christian Ziege’s team did not let up and slowly fought their way back into the game. Jonas Schwaighofer struck the crossbar in the closing stages of the first half, before Raphael Streitwieser scored a deserved equaliser in stoppage time.

The Mountainous Pine Blues had a great chance to take the lead early in the second half, only for Semir Gvozdjar to miss carelessly from a promising position. Captain Tamas Tandari & Co. had a better foothold in the match, made their mark and controlled the game for long spells in the second 45 minutes. A great passing move culminated in Schwaighofer attempting a delicate lob, but the ball just missed its target. The home side then carved out their first big chance of the second period, though Schröcker came to the rescue once again with a spectacular save. In the final stages, substitute Godswill Vadze had a great chance to finish off a nice move but missed the target at the crucial moment. However, the hosts also had their moments and missed out on a winner courtesy of a powerful injury-time header. With no further goals, Christian Ziege’s team ultimately drew 1-1 with favourites Seekirchen.
