FC Pinzgau Saalfelden beat SV Seekirchen by a 5-1 (2-0) scoreline at the Saalfelden Arena on Tuesday evening to extend their home winning streak to three games.

At the outset, it was a hard-fought encounter between FC Pinzgau Saalfelden and SV Seekirchen. Both teams looked to get stuck into the challenges and thwart their opponent’s attacking efforts early on. As a result, the first clear-cut chance did not come along until the 17th minute. Felix Adjei did brilliantly well down the left flank before picking out Joao Pedro, who dragged his shot narrowly wide of the post. But the attacking midfielder went one better shortly after the half-hour mark, curling home a stunning free-kick from 22 metres out to give his side a deserved 1-0 lead. The Ziege Crew now had the momentum on their side and doubled the advantage before the break, Jonas Schwaighofer beating his opponent with a quick flick before firing cleanly into the far corner.

Tandari & Co. quickly seized the initiative at the start of the second half as well and controlled proceedings. Seekirchen offered little in the attacking department until the 53rd minute, but then went dangerously close out of the blue when Jonas Vorderegger broke through and curled the ball against the crossbar. The hosts took back control of the game after that, with Schwaighofer subsequently missing two chances to restore the two-goal cushion. And that profligacy was to prove costly soon after as SV Seekirchen pulled a goal back through Fabian Neumayr’s penalty shortly after the hour mark. But the hopes of a fightback were short-lived as Tamas Tandari made the final quarter of an hour his own, the Hungarian bagging a lovely hat-trick in the space of nine minutes. The captain first scored from the spot, before lifting a deft lob over the opposition goalkeeper and then converting another penalty to round off the 5-1 win.

“We prepared ourselves very well for Seekirchen and knew what was coming. That’s why we strayed away from our normal game a bit today, which paid off over the 90 minutes. After deservedly going ahead, Seekirchen brought some excitement back into the game by scoring from the spot. But our team continued to play with focus and was still very present on the pitch. Even though the game ended 5-1, we missed a lot of chances in the second half – we have to become more efficient in that respect. But we are very satisfied with the performance and want to carry this momentum into the upcoming games,” said Christian Ziege.
