FCPS Hosts SV Grödig

🆚 FC Pinzgau Saalfelden v SV Grödig
🏆 Salzburg Regional League Matchday 4
🏟️ 1508 SaalfeldenArena
🕖 August 12, 2022 (19:00 CET) 🇦🇹 (1:00pm EDT) 🇺🇸

Even though Grödig has always proved to be an unpleasant opponent in the last direct duels, a successful start to the season is to be continued at 1508 Saalfelden Arena with the Pinzgauers aiming to remain undefeated and keeping another clean sheet.

Opposition ⏫
SV Grödig became a household name in Austrian football after gaining promotion to the Bundesliga in 2012/13. They finished third – ahead of the likes of Austria Vienna and Sturm Graz – in a stellar debut top-flight campaign under current Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Adi Hütter and even qualified for the Europa League preliminaries, although they were eliminated on away goals in the third round by FC Zimbru Chișinău of Moldova.
Hütter subsequently joined perennial champions Salzburg. Without him, Grödig finished a lowly eighth the following season and were then relegated from the top division in 2015/16. Rather than playing in the second tier, they opted to forego their professional license due to financial reasons and have played in the regional leagues ever since.

Team News ⏫
Alexander Schriebl will still have to do without several players with Alessandro Ziege (knee), Raphael Streitwieser (ankle), Ratan Dudaew (knee), Marcell Toth (ankle) while Marko Colic (knee) has made a quick recovery from his opening week injury, but not yet available for action.

Statement ⏫
“It was a rough week for us. After the aborted Bischofshofen game, we felt as if a toy had been taken away from a small child, although it would still have liked to play. Therefore, the anticipation for the next opponent and our next game is all the greater. Grödig can hurt a team, they have shown that many times in the past. For our part, we want to show the stability we’ve shown recently on the defensive end, stay without conceding a goal and rely on our qualities on the offensive. Against Grödig, we want to lay the foundation for the next few weeks and get back to full strength.”

Head-To-Head ⏫
Grödig have the upper hand in this pairing with eight victories, while there have also been five Pinzgau wins and five draws. The last time the two teams met in May, the visitors dominated with 2-5 triumph.
