Undoubtedly, not one of our favorite opponents, TSV St. Johann arrives in Pinzgau for the penultimate act of 2022.
After four wins in a row and a flawless record under the interim trainer so far, everything is set for the big showdown at the foot of the Steinernes Meer.
⏫ Opposition ⏫
Turn-und Sportverein St. Johann im Pongau was founded in 1949 as a gymnastics and sports club with a football department. Their biggest achievement was to win the Salzburger Landesliga in 1970 and then spent two years playing in the Regionalliga West, which at the time was the second tier of Austrian football.
In 2007, the football department broke away to become an independent club, which was later renamed TSV McDonald’s St. Johann to include the name of it’s main sponsor. They became champions of the Salzburger Landesliga – by now the fourth tier – shortly afterwards in 2007/08 and have been plying their trade in the third tier ever since.
⏫ Team News ⏫
Benjamin Hutter joins Felix Adjei, Marcell Toth, Raphael Streitwieser and Ratan Dudaew on the sidelines injured for the remainder of the season. Lukas Moosmann and Ahmet Keles return to the squad after serving suspensions.
⏫ Statement ⏫
“We are again set for a difficult game. Since we play at home, our objective is clear: we want to bring in our next victory against St. Johann. We have always had a hard time against the Pongau team in the past. But we have a very good atmosphere in the team, the self-image is slowly coming back in many situations and is settling in the players’ heads – that makes a lot of things easier. Against St. Johann, we just want to play free on it again and bring our performance with the last consistency.”
⏫ Head-To-Head ⏫
Another notoriously difficult opponent for FCPS, who’ve only won four from 22 matches in our history.
