The current season is in full swing, and in the coming days FC Pinzgau face an important double-header against SV Kuchl. The teams will meet for the return fixture in the Regionalliga Salzburg, after a duel on Wednesday in the SFV Landescup.
As well as on the field, preparations are also being made for the new season behind the scenes, and an important strategic decision has been reached at this early stage. Christian Ziege has committed to FC Pinzgau Saalfelden for the long term, and starting this summer he will focus solely on his position as the club’s sporting director. He will continue to be “the face of the club”, and looking ahead, the EURO ‘96 winner will be tasked with implementing a cohesive and sustainable football philosophy at FC Pinzgau, spanning from the first team to the youth sector, supporting the team’s young talents in the best way possible to aid them in their path to the first team. The education of coaches at the club will also be a new and vital area of responsibility.
The search for a new first team coach is already underway, and we expect to finalise our decision in the coming weeks.
Christian Ziege himself explains the decision:
“I feel really comfortable in Saalfelden. Therefore, I’m really pleased that we have now created an ideal constellation for the future together. We want to build and achieve something here in Pinzgau in the long term. In addition to the fighting spirit, we want a lot of things to happen, especially with the coaches and the young talents. We know that this won’t happen overnight, but we will consistently work towards our goals. We have a great team that thinks along the same lines, and that makes it easier. We know we have a lot to do, but that’s what makes this unique project so exciting! Our first step will now be to look for a coach so that we can make a decision quickly and plan ahead.”
FC Pinzgau Board Member Christian Herzog gave his thoughts on the matter:
“We are very happy with the new structure and want to take a valuable step forward with it. Christian is a very important pillar of FC Pinzgau Saalfelden. On the one hand, because of his enormous know-how, and on the other hand, in terms of our international external presentation, which is very important for us. It has a lot of advantages that his focus will only be on one area in the future – we can certainly benefit enormously from that and optimally exploit the club’s existing potential.”
