FC Pinzgau Saalfelden 2-0 Bischofshofen Sportklub 1933
Goals: Tandari (66′, 77′ pen)
Tamas Tandari’s 150th and 151st goals for the club saw FC Pinzgau Saalfelden celebrate a vital victory in the Regionalliga Salzburg. The Hungarian talisman opened the scoring with a tap-in from close range, his record-breaking 150th for the Mountainous Pine Blues, before converting a penalty to allay any fears and secure the three points.
With a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions, and a third consecutive win in the league, Christian Ziege’s side closed the gap to the top duo ahead of their rearranged match against SV Wals-Grünau on Tuesday night.
The Ziege Crew took change early in the proceedings and created some decent chances, with Christopher Fürstaller the first to test the visitors’ goalkeeper in the early stages. A few moments later Bischofshofen had their only chance in the first half via Ferdinand Takyi, but his header missed the target. The home side continued to pressure, with Tandari forcing a top save from Pawel Kapsa, before he once again missed with a header. The best chance of the first-half came via the unlikely source of David Rathgeb who headed inches over the crossbar from close range after an excellent Joao Pedro corner. The Brazilian/Spaniard also saw an opportunity spurned as the opening 45 minutes came to a close.
Heading into the second half the visitors from the Pongau were more present and put Kilian Schröcker to the test early on, but the FCPS goalkeeper was on guard and kept the score level with an impressive save.
In the 66th minute, the breakthrough finally came as Felix Adjei whipped in a dangerous free-kick that fizzed across the face of goal, the goalkeeper misjudged and Tandari was there to tap-in at the back post for his incredible 150th goal for the club – a record unlikely to ever be beaten.
10 minutes later, it was two. Fürstaller was brought down in the penalty area and the captain stepped up to convert the spot-kick to seal another vital victory as we enter the final stages of the regular season.
STATEMENT
“Bischofshofen were very well adjusted to us today and it was unpleasant to play against. Even though we were the better team in the first half and found some good opportunities, we’re not completely satisfied with our performance today. But, we won the game 2-0 and got important three points – that’s what counts at the end of the day,” Christian Ziege summed up.
