Threadbare squad for final home game

FC Pinzgau Saalfelden to be without numerous key performers against Kuchl

Preview: 2021/22 Salzburg Regional League,
Round 17, FC Pinzgau Saalfelden vs. SV Kuchl,

Saturday 30 October 2021, 15:00 CET, Saalfelden Arena

FC Pinzgau Saalfelden’s winning run came to an end in Seekirchen in the last round – a result which saw the Mountainous Pine Blues miss the chance to narrow the gap to Austria Salzburg to two points and set up an exciting finish to the league campaign. While second place is mathematically still possible, in practice it is extremely unlikely Christian Ziege’s team will sneak into the top two.

FCPS, who would finish top of the ‘home table’ if they take all three points, will be without a number of key players for their last home game at the Saalfelden Arena in 2021. A big performance will be needed against the men from Tennengau if the Ziege Crew are to extend their unbeaten run at home to nine games and complete the regular season undefeated.

PERSONNEL SITUATION
Christian Ziege is still without long-term injury absentee Denis Kahrimanovic (cruciate ligament). In addition, the suspended duo of Alessandro Ziege and Lukas Moosmann will miss the Kuchl game. David Rathgeb and Sebastian Handlechner will also be unavailable for the final home match of the season. It still remains to be seen whether Jonas Schwaighofer will be ready to play.

STATEMENTS
Christian Ziege: “Last weekend, we were surprisingly handed another opportunity to reduce the gap to second place. We weren’t able to take advantage, which was really disappointing for everyone and is still irritating us a few days later as well. We’ll be without numerous key performers for the match against Kuchl, so it’s going to be a really tough task for us. We’re unbeaten at home so far and we’d like to keep this run going in our final home game too. We’ll give everything for 90 minutes to achieve this, even though we’re definitely not the favourites given the current circumstances.”
